Appointed by the University provost of the University, the Institute Research Council helps set the intellectual direction and the programmatic priorities for the Institute. It consists of UChicago faculty in economics, law, business and other related fields, as well as leading scholars from other institutions.
Among the committee members are three Nobel laureates, four recipients of the John Bates Clark medal, six fellows of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, four members of the National Academy of Sciences, one MacArthur fellow, and one recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Science.
