The co-recipient of the 2011 Nobel Prize in economics gave an informal talk for students in the College with an interest in cutting-edge economics.
Sargent is a recognized leader in the field of macroeconomics who studies monetary and fiscal economics and applied time series analysis. He shared the Nobel Prize with Princeton's Christopher Sims for “empirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy." He is the William R. Berkley Professor of Economics and Business at New York University and a Distinguished Fellow at the Becker Friedman Institute.
