Health Inequality Network

The Health Inequality Network (HINet) is a multidisciplinary research network comprising a group of world-class scholars on health research from diverse fields. HINET's aim is to synthesize and extend insights from several disciplines into a unified approach and comprehensive framework for understanding theemergence and evolution of health disparities over the lifecycle and across generations. This effort will incorporate the study of socioeconomic determinants, genetic inheritance, epigenetic mechanisms, and biological and neuronal pathways, as well as behavioral responses and policy interventions.

NIMHD seeks to establish center for Health Disparities Research.
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support the development of trans-disciplinary coalitions focused on health policy research and social determinants of health research. Applications are due Sept 4.

Primate Study Shows Poor Early Environment Has Lasting Health Effects
An experiment with rhesus monkeys shows that the lack of a secure attachment relationship has detrimental long-term effects on health which are not compensated by a normal social environment later in life.

Heckman Awarded European Research Center Grant
This five-year multidisciplinary project will study origins and evolution of health inequalities over the human lifespan. George Davey Smith is co-investigator. Colm Harmon is also participating.
