Aloisio Pessoa de Araújo focuses his research activity in two areas: the theory of probability and mathematical economics. His main areas of activity in the study of mathematics are the Central Limit Theorem and the Banach space.

He is the co-author of The Central Limit Theorem for Real and Banach Valued Random Variables. Among his many significant contributions is his work on the problem of aggregation in the theory of demand.

He is a professor at Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) and Fundação Getúlio Vargas. He is currently a Tinker Visiting Professor in the Center for Latin American Studies and Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. He previously held faculty positions at the University of California Berkeley and at the University of Chicago. He has participated in editorial boards of several national and international journals and scientific advisory committees for several national and international agencies.

He earned his master’s degree in mathematics at IMPA and his PhD in statistics at the University of California, Berkeley.
