Richard Blundell

Richard Blundell’s research interests encompass consumer economics, econometrics, and labor economics.

In addition to his faculty position at University College London, he is research director at The Institute for Fiscal Studies; director of the ESRC Centre for Microeconomic Analysis of Public Policy, IFS; and the president of the Royal Economic Society. Previously he has served as the president for the European Economics Association, The British Association (economics), the Econometric Society, and the Society for Labor Economics.

He has published six books and numerous papers. His many awards including the Yrjö Jahnsson Award (1995), the Econometric Society Frisch Medal (2000), and the Jean-Jacques Laffont Prize (2008).

Blundell earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Bristol in and his master’s degree in econometrics and mathematical economics from the London School of Economics in 197. He received honorary doctorates from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland; the University of Mannheim; and the Norwegian School of Economics, NHH.
