Alessandro Lizzeri’s recent research focuses on transparency and its role in economic policy and bureaucracy. He also has examined parental guidance, supervision, and information transmission; secondary markets; and adverse selection. Another area of inquiry the relationship between political institutions and economic policy, specifically related to electoral competition and incentives.
Lizzeri was an assistant professor at Princeton before joining the NYU Department of Economics in 2001. He is coeditor of the American Economic Review and previously was editor of the Journal of Economic Theory. He is a research fellow with the Center for Economic Policy Research and was as elected fellow of the Econometric Society in 2008.
He earned his PhD in managerial economics and decision sciences at Northwestern University and his laurea in economics at Università Bocconi in Milan, Italy.
