Robert McCann
Visiting Fellow, Spring Quarter 2012
Professor of Mathematics, University of Toronto
Robert McCann is a leading expert in applied mathematics. His research interests include variational problems in physics, economics and geometry; partial differential equations and geometric measure theory; optimal transportation on Riemannian manifolds. He also studies nonlinear dynamics, solid and fluid mechanics and kinetic theory.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Toronto in 1998, he taught at Brown University. He has visited and lectured widely around the world and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. He won the Coxeter-James Prize of the Canadian Mathematical Society in 2005 and the Monroe H. Martin Prize in Applied Mathematics 2001.
He earned his doctorate at Princeton University.
