Pierre-Olivier Weill’s research has focused on liquidity in financial markets, and more specifically on liquidity effects during financial crises.

He joined the faculty at UCLA in 2006 as an assistant professor of economics and became a tenured Associate Professor there in 2010. Previously, he was an assistant professor of finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business from 2004 to 2006.

He has published in the Journal of Economic Theory, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of Finance, among others. He edits Economic Theory and the Review of Economic Studies, and has received the American Economic Review’s Excellence in Refereeing Award for 2012. He has also received several awards for his teaching.

He received his master’s and doctorate from Stanford University, and his bachelor’s degree from the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France.
