Thomas Coleman is the Executive Director of the Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics at the University of Chicago, a center for the support of inquiry on central questions of economic and social significance. Prior to taking on this role, Mr. Coleman worked in the finance industry for over twenty years, with considerable experience in trading, risk management, and quantitative modeling.

Before entering the financial industry, Mr. Coleman taught graduate and undergraduate economics and finance at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Mr. Coleman earned his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago, and his BA in physics from Harvard. He is the author of Quantitative Risk Management (published by Wiley in 2012).
