Marek Kapicka received his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2003. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Kapicka specializes in macroeconomics and public finance. His work on optimal tax design has studied how endogenous human capital formation affects optimal income tax policies and schooling subsidies. He has also extended the first-order approach to dynamic private information economies with persistent shocks, and used it to study efficient allocations and optimal taxation.
