Human Capital and Economic Opportunity: A Global Working Group

Valerie Lechene

University College London and Research Fellow, Institute for Fiscal Studies
Senior Lecturer

I am an applied microeconomist, interested in understanding the behaviour of individuals, both theoretically and empirically, with the aim of informing policy. My research focuses on modelling intra-household behaviour in order to understand how individuals interact to reach the decisions whose consequences we see. I am particularly interested in applying these models in the context of developing economies. I also work on consumption and health.

I was educated in France, where I obtained a PhD from Delta-Ehess. I am currently a Senior Lecturer at UCL and a Research Fellow at IFS.
