Richard E. Romano is Gerald L. Gunter of Professor at the University of Florida, having become a faculty member there in 1982 upon completion of his Ph.D. at University of Pittsburgh. His recent research concerns education policy and provision of local public goods. This research highlights peer effects in education and demographic sorting of students among and within schools under alternative education policy regimes. His publications appear in American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Public Economics, Rand Journal, International Economic Review, and numerous other journals. He is currently an associate editor of the Journal of Public Economics and on the editorial board of Journal of urban Economics and Education Finance and Policy. He has been co-principal investigator on 6 National Science Foundation Grants. He is married with three children and enjoys tennis and biking.
