Michéle Tertilt

Professor in Economics
Michéle Tertilt is Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota. After finishing her doctorate in 2003 she became an Assistant Professor of Economics at Stanford University. During academic 2006/07, she spent a year visiting the University of Pennsylvania. In 2007/08 she was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious Sloan Research Fellowship. Michéle Tertilt joined the Economics Department at Mannheim University in September 2010. Her main research interest lies at the intersection of macroeconomics, demography, and development. She has also contributed to the literature on consumer bankruptcy. Her work is published in a number of peer-reviewed academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the Journal of Political Economy. She currently is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Development Economics and the Journal of the European Economic Association.
